Popular Post Widget

image Previously i write  a post about how to increase your Blog's Page Views, it's said that one of the technique to increase your blog's page views is to put popular post widget on your blog page. Popular post widget let your readers know what is the WOW article you have on your blog, based on how many comments it's received. Recently i found this useful Popular Post Widget. And i want to share this Popular Post widget with you all.

Popular Post Widget code

<script type="text/javascript">
function pipeCallback(obj) {
document.write('<ul style="text-transform: capitalize;">');
var i;
for (i = 0; i < obj.count ; i++)
var href = "'" + obj.value.items[i].link + "'";
var item = "<li>" + "<a href=" + href + ">" + obj.value.items[i].title + "</a> </li>";
<script src="http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.run?_render=json&_callback=pipeCallback&_id=a7d3195528df5e96181a3d2712266226&url=http%3A%2F%2FYOUR_BLOG_ADDRESS_HERE_WITHOUT_http://&num=10" type="text/javascript"></script>
<a href=http://ezpctips.blogspot.com target="_blank"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Popular Posts Widget</span></a>

to enable this popular post widget on your blog, you have to make a little change on that above code. First you have to change the red color text in the code with your blog URL without http:// (For example if your URL is http://ezpctips.blogspot.com then you have to change the red text code with only ezpctips.blogspot.com . Next important thing is the bold text code, by default it sets to display 10 popular posts on your widget, you can change th enumber of popular posts you want to display by modifying the bold number code above with any number you want.
Once you are ready to put your code on your template, Go to your dashboard-Layout-Page Elements and click Add a new widget, next you have to choose Add HTML code. Copy paste your code above and click save to save your setting.

For a little preview, your popular post widget should look like this:

Post one (18)
Post two (14) etc.

If you encounter problems with this tutorial, let me know so i can help you to fix it. Thanks

How to Increase your Blog's Page Views

image Page Views is one of the important parameter to gauge a blog's popularity. Blog Page Views indicate the amount of page(post) which are read by a visitor per one time visit. Blog with high popularity, or have many useful content can achieve 5 page views average, it means user who visit his/her blog averagely read 5 of their posts on his/her blog. You see how important Blog Page Views is. There are so many ways to increase your Blog's Page Views, and i will explain it for you.

How to Increase Blog's Page Views

Here are 5 easy steps to increase your Blog's Page Views:

  1. Show your Related Posts/Article
    It is classic but sometimes it works. This is the most common way to increase your blog page views. You can show The Related Posts at the bottom of each post you have. Readers tend to read posts which are related to the previous post he have read.
  2. Interlink Within Posts
    What is Interlink? It means your blog contains links whic point to other page of your blog. I have tried this method and this is very good. Besides it will help you increase your Blog's Page Views, it will give you high quality backlink to your blog.
  3. Popular Posts
    Every blog has popular Posts. Popular Posts is the post which has high exposure from the readers. By putting Popular Posts widget on your Blog Page, you have more chance to increase your Blog's Page Views. In my point of view, Popular Posts divided by two: Popular Posts based on how many comments does the post have, or how many times the post is read by user. You can practice one of them on your blog to help increase your Blog's Page Views.
  4. Writing series of Posts
    Every successful blog has one thing in common: Series of posts. They provide tutorial/tips 'n trick in many series. They don't only provide many series posts, but they provide helpful tutorial (such as SEO stuffs, writing course, or even weblog contest). It compels readers to stay tuned on his/her blog. Of course the blog's Page Views increase dramatically.
  5. Be Interactive!
    This is the different between blog and static website. Blog has more value of interaction to readers than static websites have. Be Interactive with your readers, answer their questions, make a poll, or even give them prize can make good interaction between blogger(you) and your readers. In my opinion, daily updated posts also make good interaction between blogger and readers.

Adsense CPC : Increase Adsense Earnings?

Adsense CPC or known as Adsense Cost per Click is the first thing we have to research if we want to increase our Adsense Earnings. We always emphasize high Adsense CPC before we are going to choose which keywords will boost up our earnings. Is there something wrong with it? No, actually not. But many people only focused on that Adsense CPC without paying attention on other factor which will influence their Adsense Earning.

So, what is the other factor influence our Adsense Earning? Well, according to the adsense support page, I found at least 5 important factors influence our earning (Including the Adsense CPC itself).

  1. Traffic
    Yep, Traffic is the most important aspect! If you have a blog with high Adsense CPC, it’s not worth it, if you don’t have high traffic. And the traffic itself divided into many kind of traffic, there are organic Traffic (traffic from search engine), referral (might be from links or advertisements), or direct traffic. Each kind of traffic has different quality. Some says that organic traffic (traffic from search engine) is the most valuable traffic. Why? Because from organic traffic we can expect high click cost. But, no one sure about this idea, there are other factors which influence our earnings besides Traffic, especially Organic Traffic.
  2. Cost-per-Click (Adsense CPC)
    Aha, we come to this aspect. Adsense CPC. What is it? Adsense CPC is the amount an advertiser pays each time a user clicks on his/her ad. So, the Adsense CPC is determined by the advertiser (you can check out how to analyze Adsense CPC here: How to find high paying keywords). If the advertisers willing to pay more for their ads, it means that ads has high CPC, if it get clicked by user(s), it will give you high amount of earnings.
  3. Clickthrough Rate (CTR)
    Clickthrough Rate is the number of ads is clicked divided by the number the ads is shown. Example, if your ads is clicked 10 times and that ads is displayed 1000 times then you get 1% of CTR. The number of CTR will vary depends on the websites or blog. But the average CTR is below 4% CTR and above 0,5 CTR.
  4. Effective CPM (eCPM)
    Known as Earning per 1000 impressions. eCPM helps you estimate how much will you earn per 1000 impressions you have. The formula of eCPM is rather easy= the earnings you got one day divided by the number of ads clicked multiply it by 1000. Keep in mind that this is only an estimated value.
  5. Content
    Whoop. Save the best for last dude! The content of your blog/websites is important factor too! If you have good content, it’s easier for crawlers to provide the right targeted ads for your blog/websites.

The combination of all those factors will help you get higher earnings on Adsense. So do not only focus on one aspect of factors. Do not emphasize Adsense CPC only, but optimize all aspects for your better earnings. Good Luck.

Content is the Reason Why I come back to your Blog

image "Content is the King", "Great Content=Great Traffic", "Great Content=More Comments"

We often heard those quotes all time. The masters of blogging always say like that. Good Traffic come from your great Content. But, some of blogger feel it's just difficult to make a good content/post for their blog. And finally, the things end up in plagiarizing other people content/post. Uhh, that sounds bad huh? I hope all of you have known that Search Engine hates plagiarized content. So the trouble become bigger. On the one side we have to make great content but we can't, on the other side as blogger we also have to update our post continually. So how can we solve this? Let me tell you the techniques that i use to solve all those problem.

Here are the sequence that i use to make at least simple but useful content for my blog:

  1. Find your Inspiration
    Well, i think this is the most difficult part for me. If Einstein said: success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. For me on make good post, it is more to be 50% perspiration and 50% inspiration. With just a mediocre topic for your today post/article you want to share with your reader, it is very useful for you! So how to get that WOW inspiration? Do some research on Search Engine. See how other people write their ideas, and you can copy their idea but you should develop it with your own style of writing.
  2. Gather infomations of your topic as much as you can
    How come we make good post/content if we don't have MUCH information about our niche/topic? For me it's prohibited to bluff your reader with your fake info. Even in some case if you feel you are expert at your topic, it's not the reason you don't have to research about your topic on internet. You have to see how other people write about your topic you expert on, analyze it, and be different!
  3. Spew and Review
    Once you have had that WOW inspiration and you have enough info about what you are going to write. Try to write down all of your idea without paying attention with your grammar or language structure (unless your blog is about language learning). After you finished, review it and do some editing that fits you.
  4. Sighs!
    Voila, your job is done! Feel satisfied with your work now, but do it better next!

Okay guys, that's the technique i use to make my content. If you like it you can pratice it, but if you think my technique sucks, it's okay! i believe that every people has their own style of doing their job. Success!

5 Reason Why People Fail in AdSense

image At the beginning, many people are very attracted with adsense PPC program. They think it would be easy to have a decent income from it. But as the time goes by, most of them think that it's not that easy to make money with AdSense. Some of them even thought that AdSense is just a scam program. Well, that was a little example about how difficult earning money in Adsense. But, many of you have not discovered yet why most people fail in their AdSense journey. And mytheory come with this topic about 5 Reason Why People Fail in Adsense. I take this topic from the author of MWolkBlog who has discovered the bittersweet of adsense. Check his opinion out:

5 Reason Why People Fail in AdSense

1. Failing to understand that It is not get rich quick scheme - This is the single most biggest reason why people fail in adsense. People think it is get rich quick method where you can make instant money in matter of months but it is not. Infact very good number of people don’t even make it $100 after months.

2. Gives too much value and time on SEO and Link Building - Lot of people spend time in building backlinks and exploring SEO and all kind of stuff which don’t help them staying focused. I don’t think learning SEO and doing link building helps beginners to make money from adsense, just stick to basic and write quality content.

3. Do not put quality content - Instead of putting useful quality content, people starts copying content from everywhere or start posting poor quality articles, this kind of content don’t take the site very far in organic traffic and eventually the person quits.

4. Not being consistent enough - I had talked about Consistency in second point, this is very important, you can’t make money in any business unless you are not consistent enough. You need to keep on doing same over months after months, and only then you will see the results. If you keeps on quitting after few months, you won’t find yourself reaching very far from where you had started.

5. Uses wrong methods and eventually gets banned - People who work unethically and don’t know what they are doing, they are surely on the way to failure in adsense. Involving in click fraud, automated traffic generation, giving away warez and not following google adsense TOS will most likely result in ban, eventually putting all your effort into vein.

Well, it was an eye-opening opinion right? At least it was for me. Especially the second Reason. He said that lot of people only focused on SEO thing, and they do not even focused on writing a good content. Personally, Building SEO of your webpage/weblog is as important as building quality content, but keep in mind that you have to be focused on both stuffs. If you feel it's hard to implement, try to do the basic first like write quality content, not copy pasting other's article to your blog.

Good Luck on AdSense!
